Adtech's PVC bags were used at WOMAD 2014 Festival

We were delighted to be asked to work with local Artist Neville Gabie.  Adtech designed and produced a bespoke PVC bag for collecting the breath of 1100 visitors at the 2014 WOMAD music festival.

Neville was asked to create an art installation for the event and his vision was to design an instrument.  The collected breath will then be used to play the instrument at a later date.  Watch this link for an update to the sound created!

PTFE Tubing for 3D Printers

PTFE Tubing for 3D Printers

Several years ago Adtech started working with University’s and individuals as part to the ‘Rep Rap’ project to build your own 3D printer.  Since then we have supplied PTFE tube for this project at reduced prices and without stipulating the usual minimum order values.

The 3D printer market  is expanding rapidly and we are now working with more and more manufacturers of 3D printers within the UK and Europe.

Our PTFE tube has excellent low coefficient friction properties and therefore, is essential for the smooth flow of the plastic filament into the machine ready for printing.

Case Study - Non-Stick FEP Roll Covers

Case Study - Non-Stick FEP Roll Covers

We were contacted by an equipment supplier of steel brake discs to the auto industry in Australia. They were in need of a non-stick coating for their stainless steel rollers.

At the point of contact their operators had to manually scrub the steel rollers twice a day to prevent a particle build up that could transfer onto their parts.

Adtech Polymer Engineering Ltd recommended our FEP Roll Covers to eliminate the cleaning process and also improve the potential for a quality concern.

These easy to fit sleeves were installed in March 2014 and they have saved our client an hour a day on cleaning alone. Our client informs us that installing the sleeves has also reduced the potential risk of wrist / shoulder / back injuries.

Case Study - Bespoke FEP Probe Cover

Case Study - Bespoke FEP Probe Cover

We were approached by a customer who were looking to improve their existing level detection probe, used in automotive and marine applications.  The discussions led to the development and subsequent production of a bespoke FEP probe cover for their sensor probes.  The criteria was that the coating had to be inert, as thin as possible along the length of the probe, with particular attention paid to the thickness of the sealed tip, to aid response times.  In addition to this, the internal length of the cover was critical and a flange was required on the open end, so that this could be used as a sealing face for when the probe was in situ.

Cambridge University Research Project

Cambridge University Research Project

We were approached by a PHD student from Cambridge University who is working on a research project in conjunction with Cancer Research UK and the Cambridge Institute, for light microscopy.  Their requirement was for thin walled fluoroplastic tubing.

This facility specialises in: advanced live-cell imaging, confocal scanning light microscopy and non-linear imaging techniques.  More details can be found here.

What are Fluoroplastics?

What are Fluoroplastics?

Fluoroplastics are unusual and very uncommon plastics. So here for the layman is a simple guide to what’s what in the fluoroplastic world.

Increased production capacity for High Frequency welding.

Increased production capacity for High Frequency welding.

We have recently expanded our range of High Frequency (HF) welding equipment, and are able to accommodate larger volume orders, produce more complex profiles, and offer faster lead times. We're currently welding in PVC and Polyurethane films.

New FEP lined copolymer tube

New FEP lined copolymer tube

Adtech can now offer FEP lined dual wall extruded tube. This product was developed for the automotive industry as non permeable fuel lines for petrol driven cars and vans. The FEP liner offers very low permeability to hydrocarbon fluids. By utilising a thin inner wall of FEP and an outer wall of a tough low cost plastic such as nylon, a lower cost, but higher performance tubing can be made. The outer wall is tough and abrasion resistant, and gives good burst pressure with light weight and thinner overall wall thickness.

Like for like the tubing is less costly than plain FEP tubes.

New medical production facility

New medical production facility

Adtech are pleased to announce the opening of our new medical product facility at our Stroud site. The new clean area has specifically been installed for the manufacture of parts used in medical disposable devices. Products and components for the medical industry are becoming a major new part of Adtech’s product portfolio.
